Publishing a Wix site on Google Play

Wix hosts the site and controls the files, which rules out some approaches — but not a Google Play listing. A WebView app of a Wix site is a standard, approvable thing, and this page covers what Wix specifically brings to the Play Console forms.

The line is always "consumed in the app or not". The payments guide has the edge cases.

Data safety: what Wix collects

  • Wix Analytics (always on) → App activity, device identifiers.
  • Wix Members / Site Members → Name, email, profile data.
  • Stores / Bookings checkout → Name, email, phone, address, purchase history; financial info processed by Wix Payments or your provider.
  • Wix Chat / Inbox → Name, message content.
  • Marketing integrations (Meta pixel, Google Ads via Wix Marketing Integrations) → Advertising identifiers.
  • Wix cookie consent → collects consent state; not personal data but relevant to your policy.
  • OneSignal push (from the builder) → Device identifier.

Wix generates a privacy policy page from a template under Settings → Privacy; extend it to mention the Android app and push notifications and link it in the Play listing.

Passing minimum functionality

Wix's templates produce polished sites, and a polished site wrapped with nothing added is still a wrapper. Enable in the builder: push (booking reminders, restock, new arrivals), the offline screen, a native menu mapped to your main pages, pull to refresh and exit confirmation. Fill the About screen with real contact details — reviewers compare them to the site.

Wix-specific behaviour in a WebView

  • Free wixsite.com addresses carry a Wix banner ad at the top of every page. It counts as advertising in your declarations, it looks poor in an app, and a reviewer may read it as a non-serious listing. Connect a domain before publishing.
  • Mobile editor: the app always shows the mobile layout. Check every page there, especially hidden-on-mobile elements.
  • Velo code runs normally; anything that opens a new window (payment popups) is supported by the builder's WebView.
  • Login state is separate from the browser; members sign in once inside the app.
  • Cookie banner shows on first launch; make sure it is dismissible on small screens.

Wix Branded App vs your own listing

Wix sells a Branded App: a native app built on Wix's mobile framework, using Wix's member, booking and store features rather than showing the website, published under your name for a monthly fee. It is a good product for businesses that live in Wix's ecosystem and want native UI. This route is different: free, your live website, your Play listing, the policy homework above. Pick by whether you want "my website as an app" or "a Wix-designed app of my business".

Screenshots and listing

Capture from the installed app, not from Chrome. Show the store, a product, the booking calendar, the menu, a notification. The listing text tool gives a compliant structure for the title and descriptions — keep "Wix" out of them; it is not your brand.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Wix site be on Google Play?

Yes, as a WebView app with push, offline handling and native navigation enabled. Payments through Wix Stores and Bookings are allowed for physical goods and in-person services.

Does the free Wix plan work?

The app will display it, but the Wix banner ad on free sites counts as advertising and reads as unprofessional in review. Connect a domain first.

Is Wix's Branded App better?

Different. It is a native app on Wix's framework for a monthly fee; this is your live site as a free app. If you want native UI and pay for it, Branded App; if you want your website on Play for free, this.
