Publishing a GoDaddy website on Google Play

GoDaddy customers arrive with three different products under one brand. For Google Play purposes the distinction that matters is smaller than for other approaches — any of them can be wrapped — but each brings its own declarations, and Website Builder sites almost always lack the one page Play insists on.

The page every GoDaddy site is missing

Google Play requires a privacy policy URL on your domain, linked from the listing and from inside the app. GoDaddy Website Builder templates rarely include one. Add a page (Website → Pages → Add page) named Privacy Policy, and write it to cover: who you are, what the site and app collect (see below), why, who receives it, how to contact you, and how to request deletion. The privacy policy guide gives a structure; the page must be live before you submit.

Which GoDaddy product?

ProductNotes for Play
Website Builder (drag-and-drop editor, no FTP)Wrap as a WebView app. Declare GoDaddy's built-in analytics. Add the privacy policy page.
Online Store (Website Builder + commerce)Physical goods checkout allowed under Play's payments policy; digital products are not.

Payments: Online Store

GoDaddy Online Store sells physical products and services with checkout via GoDaddy Payments, PayPal or Square. Inside a Play app, that is allowed for physical goods and in-person services. Digital products (downloads) fall under Play Billing and must be excluded from the app. Payments policy guide.

Data safety on GoDaddy

  • GoDaddy Insights / site analytics (on by default) → App activity, identifiers.
  • Online Store checkout → Name, address, phone, email, purchases; financial info via GoDaddy Payments/PayPal/Square.
  • Online Appointments → Name, email, phone, appointment details.
  • Contact forms / Subscribe → Name, email, message; feeds GoDaddy Email Marketing if connected.
  • Third-party pixels added via Website Builder's marketing settings → advertising identifiers.
  • OneSignal push → Device identifier.

Passing minimum functionality

Small-business Website Builder sites — a salon, a plumber, a café — are brochure-like, which is the risk. What gets them approved:

  • Online Appointments or Online Store as the reason to open the app, plus push for reminders and offers.
  • Offline screen, native menu to Book / Shop / Contact, exit confirmation.
  • A listing that says what the app is for: "book and manage your appointments, get reminders" rather than "our website".

GoDaddy inside a WebView

  • Cookie banner appears on first launch where enabled.
  • GoDaddy branding on free/trial sites ("Powered by GoDaddy") reads poorly in an app; publish on a paid plan with a connected domain.
  • Chat widgets (GoDaddy Conversations) work; declare message collection.
  • Domain: set the start URL to the canonical www or bare form your site redirects to.

Listing assets

Screenshots from the installed app: the booking calendar or shop, a service page, the menu, a notification. Use the screenshot tool for Play's ratios and the icon resizer for the 512×512 icon — Website Builder's favicon is far too small to reuse.

Frequently asked questions

My GoDaddy site has no privacy policy. Can I submit anyway?

No. Play requires a live privacy policy URL. Add a page in Website Builder, write the policy, link it in the listing and the builder's About screen.

Is GoDaddy Online Store checkout allowed in the app?

For physical goods and in-person services, yes. Digital downloads must be excluded from the app under Play's payments policy.

Will a small-business brochure site be approved?

With appointments or shopping as the reason to open it, push notifications, offline handling and native navigation — yes, routinely. As a bare wrapper of a five-page site — no.
